Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit
Interweaving The Spirit of Thai Culture
Bangkok is a diverse melting pot in many ways. Whether you are a traveller from abroad or a local Thai living in this sprawling metropolis, the Thai capital city offers excitement in every inch of its urban perimeter. For this issue, Boncafe makes a visit to Sukhumvit’s latest addition, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit. Located in the heart of the area, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit has only recently opened its doors to tourists and travellers in December 2018. With its oasis of spacious green area, guests will be able to enjoy the hotel’s downtown location while finding peace in this mixed-use hotel featuring premium suites and fine restaurants.
Consisting of 273 guest rooms and 21 suites, the rooms at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit ranges from 35 sqm to up to 209 sqm with the hotel’s star accommodation, the Presidential Suite, located on the 28th floor. Guests staying on the 27th floor and above can enjoy access to the Regency Club Lounge as well as private check-in and check-out service. Beautifully decorated, each room offers a picturesque view of the Bangkok skyline with contemporary Thai interior decor featuring carpets with remarkable Thai patterns and ornate paintings in traditional Thai style.
Aside from its superb accommodation, the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit takes pride in its authentic Thai cuisine served at the Market Café on the fourth floor of the hotel. Inspired by ancient Thai floating markets, the restaurant is painted with scenes from the marketplace and decorated with long-established, age-old cooking tools including ancient coconut graters and milling stones. Amongst the flavourful dishes served at Market Café, opt for the crab curry with betel leaves and juicy chunks of crab meat, the sweet and tangy pomelo salad with fresh prawns or succulent fried river prawns with garlic. For some light bites, the caramelised spicy chicken wings are also not to be missed. Those with time to spare, end the meal with an aromatic cup of coffee and take a short break before heading up to the rooftop for some breathtaking views.
Located on the 29th and 30th floor of the hotel, the Spectrum Lounge & Bar feature a stunning interior with an attention to detail. Sit by the counter bar for a light conversation with the bartender while sipping some refreshing drinks, or head to the outdoor veranda for some fresh air. Those with a penchant for live music will not be disappointed with the library bar, while those who prefer something more upbeat such as House can enjoy their drinks while live DJs brighten up the mood. For drinks, the zesty Hole In One with its golden blend of citrus fruit promises to delight. Another signature, the Eddy Murphy with its vibrant red hues perfectly captures tropical freshness, while Mad Mango packs a punch with a blend of mango juice and garnish of chilli-salt. Last but not least, the coffee-infused Misty Nu is an aromatic, woody cocktail that will please the palates of coffee aficionados. From the design right to the menus, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit cleverly incorporates traditional Thai elements into the hotel to create a memorable experience for those visiting this vibrant capital city.
